PLAYER PROFILE :
STUART GRIMES BORN : 4/4/79 BIRTHPLACE : Aberdeen HEIGHT : 6'5'' WEIGHT : 17st POSITION : Lock |
Scotland's international Stuart Grimes joined Newcastle after the World Cup on a three year contract. The 6'5", 17st, 25 year old lock joined Newcastle from the Glasgow Caledonians. Originally playing full-back and centre, Grimes moved to lock, the position which has lead to his earning many caps for Scotland sharing the second row with Newcastle's very own Doddie Weir and his inclusion in Scotland's Six Nations Campaign in the year 2000. Stuart began his first match for Newcastle sharing the second row with Hugh Vyvyan against Bath on November 13th 1999. Grimes has already established himself as a character. At a Talkin between the players and the fans in April Stuart told us all that he was greatly influenced by Doddie Weir when he was younger. Doddie then got out a tissue before Stuart said that he had thought to himself that if Doddie could play then anybody could. Nice one Grimsey!!
