Allen Chilten is one of the Falcons new breed of players who has risen this season as the squad's second scrum half to Gary Armstrong, the Newcastle and Scotland Captain following the defection of Chris Simpson-Daniel. The supporters first sight of the young Welshman came during the Falcons 36 -16 defeat of Cardiff on the 22/11/98 where he appeared with eight other up and coming stars. He would have appeared later on in the season when the Falcons were having a No 9 panic. Armstrong had a broken thumb, Bates hadn't played a match in years and Allen had two broken fingers. But his talents have been recognised by the Welsh selectors, already having played for the Welsh "Fira" XV, he has now been selected to play for the Welsh under 21's. On Saturday the 6th of March he was on international duty with four other Falcons "young guns". |
