Peter Massey is the third in a set of young signings for the club brought in as an understudy to Stuart Legg and a replacement for Tim Stimpson. Making his Newcastle debut at no.15 in only the fourth league match of the 1998/9 season, away to West Hartlepool on the 4/10/98 winning 24-19.

After being educated at St Wilfrids RC, West Yorkshire, the former Wakefield and Mosely full back, showed potential playing for the North and with his new team mate Michael Wood at England under 21's level.

Peter states that his favourite rugby moment was playing against the New Zealand Barbarians.

The 1999/2000 season saw Massey as first choice at full back, safe under the high ball and exacuting inspired runs. He remained commited whilst many of the side were away with World Cup duties, but retained his place on the squad after their return, putting in some amazing performances like that against Sale on December 29th in icey conditions.
