Site Accessibility

Web design Accessibility became a legal issue for UK companies in 1999, when the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) was applied to corporate web sites. UK companies are required to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people, such as providing extra help or making changes to the way they provide their services. In the US, companies have been taken to court under the American Disabilities Act and allegations that their sites denied access to people with disabilities. From a commercial point of view, most online companies are keen to make their sites as accessible as possible and capture a part of the significant online disabled market for almost no extra cost. It is possible for even totally blind people to use the Internet via screen readers and voice browsers.
